A Unique Digital Photo Series Featuring a Surreal Overhead View of the Landmarks of Istanbul

Flatland

Turkish digital artist Aydin Büyüktas has created “Flatland“, a stunningly surreal digital series that turns the city of Istanbul on its head. Büyüktas stated that he was inspired by Edwin Abbott‘s book Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions, a novella that provided a satirical view of societal hierarchies.

…[Büyüktas] sets the foundation of a dimension where a space of surprises creates a space of surprise. We live in places that most of the times don’t draw our attention, places that transform our memories, places that the artist gives another dimension; where the perceptions that generally cross our minds will be demolished as new ones arrive.
