The Story of What Happened to Dorothy’s Iconic Ruby Slippers After the Film Was Finished

In a new episode of the informative trivia series Today I Found Out, host Simon Whistler tells the story of the iconic ruby slippers from the 1939 film version of The Wizard of Oz, how many pairs were made, who had access to the slippers, and where they are now.

Few items of fictional clothing are more iconic and easily recognisable as the ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in the 1939 classic, The Wizard of Oz. Thanks to a combination of human error, poor record keeping and a sticky fingered ne’er-do-well, these simple pieces of footwear are now considered one of the most valuable film props in history.
