Heartbreaking Epitaphs That Ancient Greco-Romans Inscribed on Their Dogs’ Tombs

Anthropologist David Ian Howe shared beautifully heartbreaking epitaphs that ancient ancient Greco-Romans had inscribed on the tombstones for their dearly departed dogs. Not surprisingly, these humans were attached to them as much as we are to ours in modern society. This list came from a previous guest lecture that Howe did in November 2023 at the University of Wyoming.

The following are the Greco-Roman dog epitaphs that I read in my last lecture. They seem to be a pretty popular topic of conversation.
