Ämari Pilots’ Cemetery, A Spooky Soviet Military Cemetery in Estonia With Aircraft Tail Fins as Grave Markers
In a secluded stretch of Estonian forest, aircraft tail fins sprout out of the ground as if the entire aircraft are buried under the forest floor. The fins are in actuality grave markers in the Ämari Pilots’ Cemetery, a Cold War-era military cemetery that houses the graves of Soviet pilots. The cemetery is near the present day Ämari Air Base, which now hosts NATO aircraft.
