“It’s just like the Hamptons, only f&$*ing horrible.”
Orange is the New Black is a new Netflix original series based on the 2011 book (a true story) Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison by Piper Kerman. Kerman was arrested for smuggling drug money and was sent to “the infamous federal correctional facility in Danbury, Connecticut.” The series is set in a women’s prison, stars Taylor Schilling (as Piper), Jason Biggs (as Larry), and Laura Prepon (as Alex) and was created by Jenji Kohan who is behind the hit Showtime series Weeds. All episodes will be available to stream on July 11, 2013. The show’s trailer has been released and it looks like it will be a funny and interesting series.
Piper Chapman’s wild past comes back to haunt her, resulting in her arrest and detention in a federal penitentiary. To pay her debt to society, Piper trades her comfortable New York life for an orange prison jumpsuit and finds unexpected conflict and camaraderie amidst an eccentric group of inmates.
