OpenKnit, An Open-Source Knitting Machine That Uses Digital Files to Create Clothing
OpenKnit is an open-source knitting machine that uses STL files, common in 3D printing, to fabricate clothing. Created at least in part by Gerard Rubio, OpenKnit was heavily inspired by the RepRap project, and uses the Knitic software for designs.
Though OpenKnit is still in an early development stage, and requires some handmade steps, the ultimate goal is full automation. The full breakdown for the machine, including Arduino instructions, a step-by-step assembly manual, and a list of every component is avaiable on GitHub.
