NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Series ‘Crazy Engineering’ Looks at a Prototype Mars Helicopter
A recent episode of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory series Crazy Engineering looks at a prototype helicopter that could one day be sent to Mars. The main challenges in flying a helicopter on Mars are the fact that its atmosphere is significantly less dense than Earth’s, and safely landing the device each time it flies. A helicopter on Mars could be useful, as it would provide a better vantage point from which to gather data for rover navigation.
