Talented light artist Darren Pearson gave a quick and helpful tutorial showing how to create long-exposure light paintings using a DSLR camera, a tripod, and a portable light source. He also explains that it takes some time to get used to the process and to start off with simple shapes.
If you’re just beginning I’d start out with simple shapes like a circle or a smiley face.
