High School Student Captures the Varying Reactions of People When She Tells Them They Are Beautiful

Earlier this year, Chicago performing arts student Shea Glover captured the multitude of reactions she received when she told her subjects that she wanted to take a photo of “something she found beautiful“. The responses varied from shy to disbelieving to defensive to appreciative, but at least one person said it made her feel good, “This has been such a great day”.

I conducted an independent project, which evidently turned into a social experiment halfway through, regarding beauty at my performing arts high school in Chicago. I want to clarify that my intentions were not to get a reaction out of people. I was simply filming beauty and this is the result.
