Hibernating Turtles in the Arctic Circle Slowly Defrost Back to Life As Spring Melts the Ice

In a chilly clip from the Sir David Attenborough series Frozen Planet II shows how how hibernating painted turtles in the Arctic Circle slowly defrost back to life when Spring comes to melt the ice.

The painted turtle is the world’s most northernly turtle. This means freezing temperatures, but luckily, these turtles have a unique adaptation up their sleeves (or shells).
