Bookniture, A Multipurpose Collapsible Piece of Furniture Hidden in a Book

Bookniture is a collapsible multifunction piece of furniture that opens and closes like a book. Bookniture’s structure consists of a collapsible paper honeycomb that is surprisingly strong–it can support more than 100 times its own weight. When opened, Bookniture can serve as a variety of furniture items including a stool, foot rest, and table. Multiple Booknitures can be stacked to form a desk or shelf, or two Booknitures can be combined with a wooden board to form a bench. When not in use, Bookniture can–naturally–be stored on a bookshelf. Bookniture was created by Hong Kong-based designer Mike Mak. Mak is raising funds to finance production of Bookniture on Kickstarter.
