Secret Society Plans Civilized Brunches in Unusual Circumstances
The elusive Alameda Sea Squirrel dining on a cocktail weenie

An interesting invitation recently came my way from former Cacophonist friends, (who would like to be known as) Commodore Randolph Carter and Commodore McCracken. The invitation asked if I was available to don formal Brunch-y wear (that I was willing to get wet) and attend a private event in an undisclosed Alameda, California location. Food was welcome, as were children. I quickly made myself available and broke out fancy clothes (and a squirrel mask).
We request your presence at 10AM Sunday, June 24th…
On the Alameda Beach directly out from the paid parking area…
walk toward the water. You will see us.
This is what I saw when I arrived:
A beach, low tide and way off in the distance, on the sand flats, a few people doing something…

As I got closer, I was welcomed by my hosts, other well-dressed guests and a table full of brunch food & drinks. I had arrived at the first meeting of a secret brunch society, an organization whose motto is, “Civilized Brunches in Unusual Circumstances”. I look forward to the next one.
