26-Year Old Corduroy, The Oldest Living Cat In the World, Shares His Daily Life Through Instagram
In August 2015, the Guinness Book of Records declared a beautiful 26-year old long-haired cat in Oregan named Corduroy the oldest living cat in the world. Since that time, Corduroy has been enjoying the good life as documented by his official Instagram feed which shows him enjoying the sunshine, going for an outdoor stroll and easily bounding up and down the stairs. His human Reed Akura said that she adopted him from a shelter when she was 7-years old.
I strongly believe the key to his longevity is the fact we did not declaw him and allowed him to go outside…He was able to defend himself and exercise his body and mind by hunting. Corduroy still catches critters but is not as good as he once was, thankfully. It is an honor to have Corduroy in our life, I honestly don’t remember much of my life without him…He is a wonderful companion and I hope to give him a happy and healthy life for many more years.
