Robotics Company Addresses Singapore’s Lack of Service Staff With Drone Waiters
Singapore-based UAV maker Infinium Robotics is working to address its country’s lack of service staff by helping restaurants fill in the gap with drones. The company is scheduled to introduce the first round of quadcopter waiters by the end of 2015, each capable of carrying up to 4.4 pounds of food and drink cargo. According to the BBC, the service crisis has led to the shutdown of restaurants in the Southeast Asian country.
A number of well-known restaurants and food stalls have shut down in recent months citing the manpower shortage and high rentals, causing some handwringing over the future of Singapore’s food culture.
