Hello, Internet! I am Glen Tickle, your newest Laughing Squid tentacle/Contributing Writer. Everything in my Internet history has led me here, even the weird stuff I’ve cleared from my Internet history. I first dialed into a local BBS on my parents’ i386-powered PC in the fourth grade, and decades later rose to the rank of Senior Editor at the late great Geekosystem. There was even a short stint at The Mary Sue. It’s all led to this. I am a tentacle, and I couldn’t be happier about that.
When I’m not writing the Internet I’m usually writing or performing jokes as a stand-up comedian. I’ve studied sketch writing at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, hosted the real/fake talk show Pretending to be on TV for a while, and even bow tie-raced Bill Nye the Science Guy.
I am also a proud father to my sweet little baby girl Amelia and a proud husband to my sweet adult-sized wife Steph. I also occasionally give advice to geeks looking for love, and on how to raise your children as geeks.
My interests and skills are varied. I take comedy very seriously. I am passionate about but quite bad at chess. I love space and science. I was a child Dr. Mario prodigy, and I have very strong feelings about the show Doozers.
In high school, my teachers told me no one would ever pay me to make jokes and screw around on the Internet. Fools.
