Three-Minute Timelapse of the Aurora Borealis on March 17th, 2013

Photographer Göran Strand created an amazing three-minute timelapse of a coronal mass ejection (CME) hitting the Earth’s magnetic field on March 17th, 2013. Two days earlier, sunspot AR1692 produced an M1 class solar flare, which resulted in the CME that hit Earth and created such a beautiful aurora.
