The Distillation Series, Darkly Surreal Dioramas of Destruction and Family Life by Thomas Doyle
New York-based artist Thomas Doyle creates meticulously detailed dioramas of family life but with a darkly surreal twist. In his Distillation series, destruction and disaster are implied by massive craters, houses torn from their foundations and hovering in mid-air, but the little figurines of parents and children seem to go about their lives, oblivious.
The sculptures will be shown at “Surface to Air,” a solo exhibition of Doyle’s work at the LeBasse Projects gallery in Culver City, November 12 through December 17.
