'Planet Tails', The Second Operational Cat Café in America Opens in Naples, Florida

Planet Tales, a pet lifestyle center in Naples, Florida opened on December 3, 2014, becoming the second operational cat café in the United States. Founder Ericka Davis Basile, an experienced buyer of pet products and loving animal mom, has made it her mission to bring together cats and humans in the comfortable, relaxed environment of the café over a free cup of coffee.

I opened it because I wanted a place for animal lovers to hang out. A typical retail store is too cold feeling. A pet lifestyle center means everyone can hang out without obligation to “shop” but I could still introduce them to really quirky pet products. Or we can just chat over a cup of coffee and talk about animals. It is the Cheers (bar where everybody knows your name) for pet lovers. Instead of beer we have coffee. But we come together because we feel like it is a place we belong

Guests can interact with adoptable cats from Collier County Domestic Animal Services in the café. Planet Tails also offers retail products, aquariums (including those for jellyfish), pet boarding and daycare, along with a pet educational center.
