Jerry Nelson, Beloved Sesame Street Puppeteer Dies at Age 78

The Los Angeles Times has reported that longtime Sesame Street puppeteer Jerry Nelson has died of emphysema at age 78 on August 23, 2012 at his Cape Cod home. According to the Sesame Workshop blog, Nelson was a cast member and creator of dozens of Muppet characters, including “Count von Count, Herry Monster, Fat Blue, Sherlock Hemlock, the Amazing Mumford and many other beloved characters.”
