Is Landing on a Comet the Equivalent of Throwing a Baseball From New York to San Francisco and Hitting a Window?
In the latest installment of what if?, xkcd tackles the a question that basically asks “Is landing on a comet the equivalent of throwing a baseball from New York to San Francisco and hitting a window?” According to xkcd, this is an inaccurate comparison for a couple reasons, first of which being that a baseball could never actually make it that far thanks to being prevented from entering the atmosphere, and secondly that — barring the atmosphere thing — it’s actually closer to throwing something from New York to San Francisco and hitting a single specific key on a keyboard.
