Google Duo, A New One-to-One Video Calling App for Android and iOS Devices
Google Duo is a new one-to-one video calling app from Google. The app was first announced in May of 2016, but officially launched in both the Google Play Store and iTunes App Store this week. The app works with the user’s contacts list and phone number, so users don’t need a separate Google account to use it. The app has a feature called “Knock Knock” that lets the person receiving the call see a live video preview of the person calling to quickly get a sense of the nature of the call.
Video calling is the next best thing to being with someone in person, but too often it can be a frustrating or complicated experience. You shouldn’t have to worry about whether your call will connect, or if your friend is using the same type of device as you are. It’s no wonder that nearly half of us never make video calls on mobile*.
