Computer-Animated Versions of the Manned Apollo Lunar Mission Patches
Animator and musician Neil Smith has created computer-animated versions of the mission patches for all of NASA‘s crewed Apollo lunar missions. Smith used Cinema 4D, After Effects, and Octane Renderer to create the video from public domain imagery released by NASA.
Smith wrote about his process in a post on The Smiths’ Occasional, and is offering stills of each patch in the form of a lovely poster.
I’ve always thought it would be cool to animate all the mission patches from NASA’s manned moon missions. So when looking for a short project to do while teaching myself a bit more about the Octane renderer for C4D, this seemed like the perfect choice. Lots of different materials, texturing techniques, etc.
