A video by Kalle Centergren captures a breathtakingly vivid Sun halo display over the Austrian Alps. The stunning visuals are caused by small ice crystals suspended in the air. The crystals refract the light from the Sun and can create different types of halos in different conditions. As Bad Astronomy blogger Phil Plait points out in his write-up, this display has several distinct halo features happening simultaneously.
Centergren added music to the drone footage of the Sun halo, and also uploaded a musicless version of the video.
