‘Death Race 2000‘ and ‘Rollerball‘ are two 1975 films that signaled a growing critical awareness of the sports industry pushing increasingly violent spectacle to juice TV ratings. The most vivid examples of movie-sports carnage are the three films where youth are served as fodder for human hunting: ‘Battle Royale,’ ‘The Hunger Games,’ and ‘Punishment Park‘.
