Project Wing, A Drone Delivery Service for Remote Locations Being Developed by Google
Project Wing is a drone delivery system that Google has been privately working on in Queensland, Australia. The project, which was developed by the company’s semi-secret Google[x] lab, has been relegated to trials with a handful of farmers in the area, delivering first aid, food, water, and dog treats, though the company sees the moonshot as being a potentially revolutionary step in the future of transportation.
Throughout history, there have been a series of innovations that have each taken a huge chunk out of the friction of moving things around. Project Wing aspires to take another huge chunk out of the friction of moving things around in the world.
The unveiling of Project Wing follows a similar announcement from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos earlier this year.
