Web2Open takes place next Tuesday, April 17th and Wednesday April 18th, from 1-7pm during the O’Reilly Web 2.0 Expo at Moscone West in San Francisco. Inspired by Foo Camp and BarCamp, Web2Open will be an action-packed unconference nested inside Web 2.0 Expo and is being organized by unconference veterans Tara Hunt and Chris Messina of Citizen Agency and Ross Mayfield of SocialText.

Web2Open will be comprised of four parts: Open Grid Sessions where anyone can sign-up to give a talk, Pre-Scheduled Open Speaker Sessions where speakers submit topics in advance, BoFs (Birds of a Feather sessions) which are basically informal discussion groups and the Mashroom, an API mashups hackathon based on the popular Mash Pit events.

There is no charge to attend Web2Open, just use discount code “webex07opn” when you register for a free Expo Only Pass.

For more info, check out the Web2Open wiki.

Web2Open is a part of the Web 2.0 Expo, open to anyone who would like to attend. (We do ask that you have a badge, but you may register for a free Expo Only badge). The Web2Open was conceived with FooCamp/BarCamp in mind. This open event blends some pre-scheduled content with an open grid where the attendees fill in the sessions they either want to discuss or present themselves. It is the perfect space to provide the community at large with a place to connect with other attendees, learn more about elements of Web 2.0, and share one’s knowledge and experiences.
