Man, the Vancouver International Airport is one nice looking airport. Word of advice, if you are going to Canada, bring a passport. Eddie and I almost didn’t make it in with our useless California drivers licenses (it was never a problem for me in the past, but it’s been a while). Serves me right for not keeping up on the latest in international security. Now, let’s just see if they will let us back in the US. If not, then will be singing O Canada, eh?

Yup, starting Jan 1, 2006, passports are required for Canada and Mexico. You should be okay getting back in the US this time if you explain, but if you’re going to be in Vancouver long enough to get your passport FedExed to you, I’d recommend doing that.
Enjoy Vancouver. Check out La Casa Gelato – they have over 300 kinds of gelato flavors; some are traditional, and some are like what a crackhead would invent. Soren took photos of every single flavor in the display case and then threaded all the images together in one huge JPG: http://monkeydyne.com/lj/208_flavors.jpg
They let you sample as many flavors as you want. We sampled wasabi apple, gorgonzola pear, basalmic vinegar, tequila lime, black sesame seed, and a bunch of other insane flavors before settling on chocolate chili and pistachio saffron.
Actually all you need is a birth certificate. Until December 2006 http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2225.html.
Yeah, but who carry’s their birth certificate around? I crossed into Canada at Niagra Falls last summer with just a driver’s license and had no problem.
Great pictures. I just got back from a quick trip to Vancouver and was also impresed by the beautiful airport. I’m writing a post about my trip and was wondering if I might use a couple of your pictures? I can give you credit and link to your site, if it’s okay that I use them. They’re the best pictures of the airport I’ve seen online so far. Here’s the if you want to check it out.
Alisha: Sure thing. Most of my photos are licensed under a Creative Commons license. The photo credit information is listed with each photo.
