The Unbearable Weirdness Of Being (A Non-Newtonian Fluid On A Speaker Cone)

You’re likely already familiar with the strange properties of non-Newtonian fluids, such as a mixture of cornstarch and water, whose “flow properties are not described by a single constant value of viscosity.” Depending on how force is applied to such fluids, they will either behave as a liquid or a solid.

This uncanny video on LiveLeak demonstrates what happens when happens when a non-Newtonian fluid is placed on a speaker cone, and an audio signal is applied to it. All hail our new cornstarch tentacle overlords!

What was playing over the speaker? If it was evil music like, say, the Jonas Brothers, that would explain the tentacles.
