Persistence of Memory pallet

COLOURlovers, who earlier this month had a great post on butterfly color palettes, has another fascinating write-up, this time focusing on the color pallets of the masters of painting. For instance, here’s the color pallet that was generated from Salvador Dali’s legendary painting “Persistence of Memory”

Well, if teh Intarwebs had a color palette, it would mostly be fleshtones. ;)

Actually, quite a few paintings would have a similar palette, including one of my 20th century favorites: Picasso’s “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.”

These pallets make great source files for the match color feature in photoshop. (image>adjustments>match color). There’s a little drop down menu at the bottom of the dialogue allowing you to use another file as a source file.

Make sure the source file is open as well as the target file or the source file will not appear on the list. This particular pallet yields a polaroid sort of feel.
