Pet Airways

Pet Airways, whose motto is “Travel for Your Best Friend”, is a pet-only airline that will save your fine furry companion from the indignity of the cargo hold. Along with the joys of potty breaks, there are personal attendants and even a pet lounge where the “pawsenger” can chill until you can pick them up.

The service launches in July starting at $149 for a one way flight.

At first I was gonna be all snarky, and then I was like, HEY! That would be AWESOME for my big huge Bernese Mountain Dog!

This is so freakin’ awesome I can’t tell you. Now our big one could come along with our little one!

Hmm, wonder if the pets know they’re flying in the ‘main cabin’ as opposed to the luggage dept… my guess is no?

The issue regarding putting pets in cargo holds is the pets safety, not their awareness of where they are. Cargo holds can have pressurization and temperature problems and they do not have staff which would be alerted if an animal were in danger or fell ill.

Fantastic idea. I hope very much that this is hugely successful and will fill a void that I know has had many people with beloved pets not willing to go on vacation in the summertime! Their choices were the trauma of a kennel stay, or the trauma of being loaded with baggage in the belly of a huge jet, without human contact or reassurance for hours and hours. BTW, if your oxygen mask comes down for YOU during a flight on one of those huge jets, your pet in cargo has 10 minutes or less of oxygen available to him down below..

Great idea! Coming to Alaska any time in the future? Breeders & people with show animals could really benefit from your services!
