Here’s a sneak preview of “Coraline”, an animated version of the 2002 novella “Coraline” written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Dave Mckean. The film is directed by Henry Selick and is currently in production at the animation studio LAIKA Entertainment.
Slated for release in 2009, Coraline is Laika’s first feature length film and according to Ward at Drawn who works at Laika, it will be “the very first stop-motion feature to be shot stereoscopically with a dual digital camera rig for digital 3-D exhibition”.
UPDATE: There’s a hi-resolution version of the video on Neil’s website.

Thanks Steve, I’ll update the post.
Thanks for the mention! And just to let you know, it should be noted that the studio working on the feature is LAIKA Entertainment. LAIKA/house is the commercial division.
Thanks Ward, I’ve updated the post.
the film seems functionally identical to “mirrormask,” except with slightly different animation. why was coraline chosen to be digested into film before one of his much better books?
tl;dr coraline = waste of good art
