Man Crafts Beautiful Matching Breakfasts From Around the World for Himself and His Boyfriend

Michael Zee, a talented photographer and cook, has spent over two years crafting matching morning meals for himself and his boyfriend, Mark van Beek. Zee uses ideas and ingredients from around the world without duplication and then posts the results to a large Instagram following. This wonderful project, called “Symmetry Breakfast“, has taken on a life of its own, much to Zee’s surprise. In a 2014 interview with The Guardian, Zee spoke about what he does to keep the project going.

People wonder if I’m crazy or obsessive, but it is a declaration of love, really. I’m dedicated – both to breakfast and to Mark. …I get up really, really early. …If something takes more than 30 minutes to make, such as a sourdough, I do it the night before. I post at 7.30am and we leave the house at 8am. Usually, within the first hour, I’ll have 1,000 likes and by the next day it will go up to about 3,000.
