A Handy List of Things Not to Do While Visiting Japan

In a rather helpful episode of “Abroad in Japan”, a video series by Chris Broad (a “British guy living in Japan”), offers some very important tips regarding Japanese etiquette, specifically what not to do while visiting Japan. Subjects include eating/drinking while walking, chopstick manners, tipping, transit mindfulness amongst several others.

I actually did most of my reading about Japanese etiquette on the horrific 12-hour flight between London and Tokyo and I’ve pretty much just winged it ever since. In hindsight there are lot of things I know now that I would have done well to comprehend before I got here so today I’ve taken five years of experience in the field and compiled it into this list of 12 things not to do in Japan.
