Scientists Levitate Objects in Three Dimensions with Sound Waves

Japanese researchers have discovered how to levitate objects in three dimensions using sound waves. In this video, the scientists demonstrate the technique using a variety of objects — water, soap bubbles, bits of wood, and electrical components — and they explain how it works in a paper published on arXiv.
