John Cleese on American Football vs Football (aka Soccer)

John Cleese in an edifying excerpt from The Art of Football from A to Z which was created for World Cup 2006. The complete film cover topics from Attack to Zeitgeist with Offside and Economics in between, in Cleese’s distinctive style of absurd erudition. It features brief clips of lots of famous folks ranging from celebrities Wim Wenders, Bono, the late Dennis Hopper, and Henry Kissinger to soccer stars like Pele and Michael Ballack.

In case you think this an anomaly, here’s a football sketch from Cleese and chums in the days of Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Enjoy!

He tends to write about theater, humor, San Francisco culture and history, and stuff that's just plain weird. He thanks Scott for sharing the keys to the Laughing Squid virtual HQ and promises to uphold whatever it is that the mirthful cephalopod would prefer to be uplifted.
