Flintstones Cigarette Commercials From the 1960s
Once upon a time, The Flintstones were on in prime-time. And that means grown up things. Things like cigarettes–which were the original sponsor of the show and at the time were legally advertised on TV. In fact, the norm was to show the stars of the show puffing on the product, so need to keep the little animated dudes from getting in on the fun…
The first two seasons were co-sponsored by Winston cigarettes and the characters appeared in several black and white television commercials for Winston (dictated by the custom, at that time, that the star{s} of a TV series often “pitched” their sponsor’s product in an “integrated commercial” at the end of the episode).
Gee, Fred, I guess in the stone-aged 60’s, it was all F-T-W. For-The-Winstons ah-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh!
