Who’s Who & What’s What in the Books of Dr. Seuss
Who’s Who & What’s What in the Books of Dr. Seuss is an index from A (Letter of the alphabet central to a question–in The Cat’s Quizzer) to zZZ (Sound made by Grand Duke Wilfred’s arrows–in The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins) to the works of Dr. Seuss (aka Theodor Geisel). Published by Dartmouth College Library in 2000, it is available free online.
The book was compiled by Edward Connery Lathem. Lathem served as Dartmouth’s Dean of Libraries, Librarian of the College, and was a personal friend of the author. Theordor Geisel matriculated at Dartmouth, graduating in 1925. He was editor-in-chief of Dartmouth’s humor magazine, The Jack-O-Lantern.
This extensive guide commemorates the seventy-fifth anniversary of Theodor Seuss Geisel’s graduation from Dartmouth College.
Lathem also wrote The Beginnings of Dr. Seuss – An Informal Reminiscence published in 2004 which is likewise available in the Dartmouth Digital Collection online.
Earlier this year Dartmouth re-named their School of Medicine after Audrey and Theodor Geisel.
