The folks at The Bread Kitchen give a demonstration showing how to create elaborate-looking braids of bread dough with three strands, then more examples up to nine strands. The techniques can be used not only to make bread, but also braided hairstyles and crafts with yarn or leather. They recommend using a similar technique to create braids with even more strands, saying to make 10- and 12-strand braids, “You simply follow the principle used in the 6- and 8-strand braids: bring the arm to the middle and pull the opposite leg across to replace it.”
