Steven Hawking and Zoe Saldana Use Quantum Physics to Rescue Simon Pegg’s Cat Schrödinger
In “Quantum Is Calling” Steven Hawking and Zoe Saldana use quantum physics to rescue Simon Pegg‘s cat Schrödinger from a puzzle that spans space and time.
In the new video, Saldana works desperately to solve the puzzle and retrieve Pegg’s cat, revealing a fascinating, newly discovered property of quantum entanglement, and an opportunity to boldly go where no man or woman has gone before. With contributions from the universes of Star Trek, The Matrix, and Marvel, “Quantum is Calling” is a puzzle-solving adventure unlike anything you’ll ever see.
The video was directed by Alex Winter, and also features Keanu Reeves, John Cho, and Paul Rudd. It was produced for Caltech’s Institute of Quantum Information and Matter and Kavli Nanoscience Institute as a sequel to 2015’s “Anyone Can Quantum” in which Rudd takes on Hawking in a quantum chess match.
Physicist Sean Carroll explained the science discussed in the “Quantum Is Calling” in a separate video.
