Sir Ian McKellen Teaches Cookie Monster the Word ‘Resist’ Using Examples From ‘X-Men’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’
In a recent clip from Sesame Street, Sir Ian McKellen teaches Cookie Monster the meaning of the word “resist” using examples from his roles as Magneto and Gandalf from the X-Men and Lord of the Rings franchises respectively. As may be expected, Cookie Monster has a hard time understanding the concept of resisting temptation, which has been a recurring theme for the character. Cookie Monster even starred in a Lord of the Rings parody called Lord of the Crumbs about delayed gratification.
You shall not pass! Please resist! The word resist means to control yourself and stop yourself from doing something you really want to do, though that’s not a word that Cookie Monster really understands. Ian McKellen demonstrates.
