vSENS, An ‘Electronic Nose’ That Uses Nanotechnology to Detect Chemicals in the Air
vSENS is an “electronic nose” that can detect trace amounts of chemical gases and vapors. The device uses nanofibers to rapidly detect chemicals, such as pesticides and bomb-making materials, with a sensitivity in the parts-per-trillion range. The manufacturer of vSENS, Utah-based Vaporsens, suggests the device could be used for everything from food safety to security. vSENS is scheduled for release in late 2015.
