Stop The War on Fun is a “group musicians, artists, club owners, club goers, entertainment industry workers and supporters of fine arts and live entertainment who want preserve and protect live music and entertainment in California”.

At a time when small businesses are failing left and right and Californians everywhere could use a lift, the ABC has decided to step up harassment of bars, clubs, dance halls and live entertainment venues of all types.

These clubs aren’t accused of serving alcohol to minors. Nor are they accused of attracting crime or violence. They’re attempting to present entertainment to all-ages audiences.

Here’s more info on how to help out.

I have been unable to get through to the website http://www.stopthewaronfun.org/. There is a pretty good (brief) run down of the problem at Tiny Mixtapes (http://www.tinymixtapes.com/San-Francisco-s-All-Ages-Venues).

Dude this is all about liquor. If it was really just about the music, they would stop serving liquor and the ABC would go away. Or, why don’t they just get a real liquor license??? Oh, because they can’t have all ages shows then. What they have is a restaurant license and they’re not operating a restaurant. It’s a bar with music. Either the law needs to be changed or they need to serve decent food that people will actually want to purchase. Then the ABC will go away.
