9 Benefits of Twitter for Bloggers

Darren Rowse wrote an excellent post on ProBlogger today about “9 Benefits of Twitter for Bloggers”. In the write-up Darren, a recent convert to Twitter, explores several ways that Twitter can help bloggers, including:

- improve the quality of blogs
- network with other bloggers
- widen readership
- grow a blogger’s profile
- drive traffic to blogs

Twitter is still by far the social network I use the most, including many of the ways outlined by Darren, like using TwitterFeed which I have written about in the past.

UPDATE: Darren has posted a follow-up “How to Use Twitter – Tips for Bloggers”.

It’s also been incredibly helpful with my bloggers campaign to raise money for the sharing foundation!

Twitter is like viagra for fundraising ..

And, BTW, did you know that one of your t-shirts is now in Cambodia either at an Orphanage or being worn by a Cambodian blogger?

I find it annoying any twitter user who has URLs in more that 25% of their posts. I mainly use it on my phone. I feel that Blog referrals need to be mixed with other content. If not it is just links to someplace other than my phone.

I live and die by Twitter–I even have the sidebar for Firefox. It really is a useful tool if you know how and when to use it. Plus, I cannot stop staring at the big blue bird when I go to the Twitter site. Love birds. Though, it reminds me of the killer bird in The Bugs Life movie which frankly, scared the hell out of me.

It also encourages terseness in your writing style, which I’m terrible at.
