Map Figure Paintings by Ingrid Dabringer

Artist Ingrid Dabringer uses maps as a canvas for her painted figure drawings. She cleverly uses the roads, colors, and geography of the maps to help define the figures.

I spin maps and search for figures formed by the interdependent lines. The exaggerated and distorted images that I illustrate lend themselves nicely to the narrative questions of “why and how.”
