Man Honors Late Wife by Walking 645 Miles to San Diego Comic-Con Dressed as a Stormtrooper

Minnesota-based artist and photographer Kevin Doyle recently honored his late wife Eileen Doyle, who passed away due to pancreatic cancer in November 2012, by dressing up as a Stormtrooper and walking 645 miles to the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con.

Doyle and his wife both enjoyed all things related to Star Wars and art. They used to share their passions at comic book conventions, which is part of the reason why he walked the West Coast of California from San Francisco to San Diego. Doyle also made his journey to help with Eileen’s Little Angels, a nonprofit foundation that he created to both remember his wife and raise money for children’s cancer charity. Kevin has shared the full story about his wife and left a way to donate to his cause on CrowdRise. More photos are available to view on his 501 Mile Walk Facebook page.

Eileen and I both shared a passion for Star Wars and are members of the world-wide costuming organization the 501st Legion and as a member I regularly participate in charitable events, fund-raising and various walks. This time I will be walking in Eileen’s memory. With the money raised I will be able to create such things as a coloring book, bandana’s, a blanket and plush toys…all featuring Eileen’s artwork. It is my hope that this walk will help me to heal and give my life purpose by sharing Eileen’s spirit through her artwork with children battling cancer and put a little sunshine into their lives.
