Laughing Squid Facebook Page

Last night Facebook launched their new pages feature, which allows people to promote businesses, bands, celebrities and so on, with the option of using their new ad network. People can then become fans of these pages. This appears to be Facebook’s answer to their Fakebooker (fake profile) problem.

To see how it works, I went ahead and setup a Facebook page for Laughing Squid.

Here’s the original Laughing Squid Facebook group along with my personal profile.

What I like about this is that I’ve been a fan of your blog since moving up here in late 05, but it felt weird to friend you on Facebook, even though we have friends in common. Somehow it didn’t feel accurate enough, you know? It’s not like FB’s going to add a “reads their blog!” to the “how do you know this person?” drop down anytime soon.

Thanks for pointing that out. I’m a recent convert from myspace, so I’m still getting facebook figured out.
