Stafford, England gallery owner and maker Jennifer Collier of Unit Twelve creates beautiful works from found and recycled papers. Working the paper as though it were a textile, Collier crafts familiar objects like shoes, scissors, typewriters, sewing machines and cameras by stitching and manipulating paper.

The papers themselves serve as both the inspiration and the media for my work, with the narrative of the books and papers suggesting the forms. I tend to find items then investigate a way in which they can be reused and transformed; giving new life to things that would otherwise go unloved or be thrown away.

The Origin Contemporary Craft Fair will have Collier’s works on display from September 22 through September 28, 2011.
