Artist Amy Bennett Creates Eerie Paintings of Her Dioramas of Ominous Scenes
Artist Amy Bennett creates wonderfully eerie oil paintings of her painstakingly constructed dioramas depicting ominous scenes. Bennett constructs her dioramas from cardboard, foam, wood, and paint, and augments them with model railroad miniatures. Bennett has created dioramas of rooms, neighborhoods, and lakes, among others, and she adds subtle, often unsettling narrative elements to each model–a crashed car, or a distraught character, for instance. Her paintings compound the eerie effect through their faithful replication of both the fabricated nature of the dioramas and the disturbing narratives.
