Support The Sound of Young America & MaximumFun.org With The 2010 MaxFunDrive

Recently I posted about MaxFunCon, a gathering of creative people who wish to be more awesome, put on by the comedy podcast mini-nation that is MaximumFun.org.

Last week Jesse Thorn, the leading voice of MaxFun, kicked off their big annual fundraiser the 2010 MaxFunDrive. It’s two weeks of gentle pleadings for support, a steadily rising fundm-ometer, podcasts funny as per usual, and it culminates in an 8-hour marathon comedy show / podcast at a Meltdown Comics in L.A.. A donation page is standing by.

There are both the usual and unusual donation thank you gifts, including a TSOYA live DVD, a personal phone call from Jesse, and free admission to next year’s MaxFunCon.

MaxFun podcast products include The Sound of Young America (which is also heard on public radio stations across the country), Jordan, Jesse, Go!, Stop Podcasting Yourself, the Kasper Hauser Podcast, and several others. They are all available on iTunes. These are what you’ support by donating.

Here’s a sample of Jesse & TSOYA in action, interviewing metallic legend Ian Fraser Leman Kilmister (aka Lemmy) at SXSW this year.

Mikl-em

Actor, nerd, poet, producer, writer mikl-em made his name short so you wouldn't have to. In addition to his blog you can find his writing in "Hi Fructose" magazine and witness him almost life-sized in various plays at The Dark Room Theater in SF's Mission district.

He tends to write about theater, humor, San Francisco culture and history, and stuff that's just plain weird. He thanks Scott for sharing the keys to the Laughing Squid virtual HQ and promises to uphold whatever it is that the mirthful cephalopod would prefer to be uplifted.
