Samsung Announces the Galaxy S5 Android Smartphone
Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S5, the latest smartphone in its Galaxy line, at the recent Unpacked 2014 event in Barcelona, Spain. The 8.1mm thick, 145g weight smartphone includes a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display, and is in many ways similar to the previous installments in the Galaxy line in terms of design.
The biggest change for the Galaxy S5 over the Galaxy S4 is probably the upgrade to a 16-megapixel rear camera from a 13-megapixel one, but that’s just the most obvious. The smartphone also runs Android 4.4.2 on a 2.5GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, on board storage with either 16GB or 32GB options, and a microSD slot that goes up to 128GB. All of that runs from a 2,800 mAh battery. Samsung has full technical specifications on their website.
